About Me:
My name is Terezia Borcsok, born in Hungary, and I am an Online Health Coach based in Greater Manchester.
As a coach and a natural athlete, I am deeply passionate about making a positive impact on people’s lives mentally and physically.
The 312 Challenge is particularly close to my heart and I am dedicating it to my father, who tragically lost his battle with mental health resulting in suicide 25 years ago.
To commemorate this anniversary in a positive and impactful way, I am turning a painful experience into a force for change.
On the 1st of June in 1999, 25 years ago my Dad took his life. At that time I didn’t understand why. This event holds special significance for me as I’m dedicating it to my father.

Why is the challenge called MENTALK.312?
Losing my father was a hardest thing and I knew this year will be challenging emotionally so I decided to turn this into something special and put a positive twist on it.
His silence should have been a signal, but there was no communication. As a family we were unable to see he was suffering inside.
MENTAL-K – communication, talking is a huge aid of mental health especially when it comes to Men. 312- I asked my Mum where my Dad always wanted to go.
We checked the distance from our home to this city and it was 312km. I decided to do the 312 challenge 3 times because in Hungary we say 3 times lucky, and on this journey I will be carrying my father with me in spirit making this experience memorable to support other Men and their families.
RAISE AWARENESS:
According to the NCBI – National Centre for Biotechnology Information
Suicide occurs in the presence of any psychiatric diagnosis, but studies repeatedly show that suicide is most common in mood disorders such as major depressive disorder and bipolar disorder.
There is a clear need to reduce the STIGMA around male mental health.
If only MEN would talk we would be able to reduce this number. Suicide prevention and awareness in schools, workplaces and in society is clearly a need.
Many other disorders have elevated rates of suicide, such as mixed drug abuse, alcohol and opioid abuse, eating disorders, schizophrenia and personality disorders, and even acute stress disorders. It may be that suicide is related to the occurrence of mood depression, severe anxiety, and increased trait impulsivity that occur in the course of the entire range of psychiatric disorders. The increased risk of suicide has particularly been emphasized in bipolar disorder.
More recently, the role of early child abuse in suicide has been recognized as a factor in elevated suicide risk. Child abuse has been considered to be associated with both early onset mood disorders and the trait of impulsivity.
